Learning early means to encourage children to learn in order to reach milestones in their development so they are ready for school. When children are born, they perceive the world around them using their senses. They also learn by trial and error. Children who are guided by their parents or caregivers will learn faster.
Let’s take an example:
Parents who encourage and help their baby to learn walking will see the baby walks early. Confidence is the key success of learning. Children who has a confidence will use their skills and abilities at their best.
Some key areas of learning for young children are:
- Learning to be mobile.
- Learning to develop hand-eye coordination
- Learning to be creative
- Learning about People and objects
- Learning about space
- Learning to use language
- Learning to be social
- Learning to be a self starter
It is important that children learn with fun so that they don’t perceive that learning is a hard thing to do. Play with toys or fun activities can facilitate learning in children. I have read Learning Early by Dorothy Einon and will give you a review for this book that include key areas of learning as above. The book will give you an insight about learning early concepts, it is easy to understand with the charts provided. Charts with columns describe at certain age what baby can do, what’s happening and how you can help. There are also fun ideas that parents can do to facilitate learning in children. The closing chapter is about learning to be a self starter. It is how we finally encourage and prepare children to be independent for school readiness. This is the parenting book that will give you a complete guide about your child’s learning during the first 5 years, from newborn to preschooler.

shape sorters and building blocks can be fun for baby and parent.
