I buy an eco-friendly cleaner at the local store. It is a little more expensive but well worth it. I cant be bothered making my own up, so much else to do round the house when I get in after work.

If you ask me, things like vinegar and baking soda are some of the best cleaning products around. I use them for almost anything, laundry and cleaning alike. Highly recommended!

Thanks for educating me on this arena of eco friendly living, something I've lagged behind on: the cleaning products I buy. I've almost never considered eco-friendliness when choosing cleaning products, being a clean freak I thought clean was good. There are just so many choices we get to make to help make our lives and habits eco friendly. I also appreciate Jeff Sloan's comment about how bleach is a good way to safely kill the germs while not harming the environment. I will begin using a bleach water bleach mix because of seeing this conversation rather than those spray mixtures I've always gotten.

Water is the most vital of all natural resources. Without water no life can exist. It is the existence of water on this planet of ours that has made it possible for us to live here.

Hi Learning Mama,

Thanks for your kind words.

When mixed and handled appropriately, disinfectants such as chlorine bleach solutions effectively destroy the germs that linger on hard surfaces, just waiting to infect human hosts. It is not necessary to apply bleach full strength: Just ¼ cup of bleach in a gallon of water is appropriate to kill the flu virus, for example, and not as harsh as you suggest. For more information, please see http://fluandhealth.com/resources/.

Best,
Jeff

Hi Jeff, thank you for your visit and it's an honor to have your comments. Thank you for your input as well. How about the safety of chlorine for our health? It's stinging on the skin and the odour is very strong.
