Cell phone and Internet are two gadgets that people can’t live without them in this digital age. We use them as our communication tool day to day. With cell phone, people can talk while they are on the move. Have we forgotten our etiquette when we’re using cell phone? Maybe, yes. If we need someone to remind us about cell phone or online etiquette, Michelle Cimino will be the right person to give us advices. She is a digital etiquette expert and online enthusiast. She is also known as a cell phone mom. She wrote 2 books about GET MANNERS; Cell Phone Etiquette and Netiquette (online etiquette). She definitely has etiquette advices and rules of DO’s and DON’Ts for the cell phone users and Internet users of social networking sites such Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. You will be entertained with her own silly and hilarious stories in her book. I read with glee when Michelle Cimino shared her story of how she had to keep talking on the cell phone while she was in the toilet. Finally, her cell phone dropped inside the toilet bowl.
About Michelle Cimino
Michelle Cimino is CEO of household operations (mom taxi, maid services, calendar keeper, referee, litigator, etc). She loves her part-time job where she can dress-up and put off cleaning the toilet for another day. She is a horrible golfer but keeps at it for spite. She loves to read fiction and will watch movies over and over. She is an on-line enthusiast and nags her kids about their cell phones. Michelle currently lives in Colorado with her husband and two teenage daughters. Visit her website, Get Manners.
Let’s find out why she wrote books about etiquette from the email interview below:
1. Why did you write books that focus on GET MANNERS or etiquette? Do you have any mission for parents?
I was inspired to write my first book on cell phone etiquette after I gave my daughter her first phone. I thought all I had to do as a parent was find the right phone, the right price for our family, the best plan and Viola! I’d be done! WRONG! The very first day she had the phone, she brought it with her to the dinner table and proceeded to text a friend. I knew right then that I had a problem. My mission for parents is communication. Set “off” hours for cell phones. Don’t bring them to the dinner table. And be sure to discuss with your kids that texting someone while having a conversation with someone else is rude. This means you too parents! Follow your own guidelines.
2. About your book “Cell Phone Etiquette “, what important lessons will the readers learn from this book?
One of the most important lessons that a reader will learn from this book is that it’s okay to set rules and guidelines when it comes to kids, your business associates and even with yourself. Cell Phone Etiquette needs to be taught just like you teach your kids not to talk with their mouth full! Cell phones are going to be around for awhile, so you might want to start being a good role model.
3. Who should read cell phone etiquette book? Everyone! Parents and teens alike need some etiquette lessons. Most people think they are doing okay until they find out what annoys other people! It’s the perfect book for the new cell phone recipient, secretly placed on that co-workers desk, or bought as a gift for a friend. Available now at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. Please feel free to visit Michelle Cimino at Get Manners.
4. What flaws did you see in people for their online etiquette?
Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it FLAWS. However, some of the manners missing from people who spend time online are: horrible language, bad spelling (I’m not talking acronyms here-just plain bad grammar) and over-exposure. Just because you are sitting at home having fun on the computer doesn’t mean a free ticket to ‘put it all out there’, not everything needs to be public knowledge.
5. How will Netiquette book help the readers in their online social networking?
A reminder (and maybe new information for the younger generations) that what you post online can affect your future college choice (they check sites now) your future job and risk your relationships. I tell my own teenage daughters that just because its news, doesn’t mean it is fit to print. A good rule of thumb for all of us to remember.
The following are book reviews and the readers’ comments about her books quoted from her website:
“Michelle has a great style and sense of humor – making this a great book for parents, employers, any cell phone user! Parents this book gives you great conversation topics to have with your kids. Wish I had an extra copy at the grocery store yesterday to give away (I learned way TMI (too much information) from a person talking on their cell phone in the check-out line)!” Keith Brownrigg, Health Insurance business owner & father of two daughters
“Michelle’s book has been extremely helpful to me as a Mom and also as a journalist. We have called on her time and time again for the morning show here in Denver to discuss the right way to teach our kids etiquette when it comes to technology and specifically cell phones. She has terrific take home advice for parents who are sometimes not as up-to-date as we need to be on technology. Michelle’s advice is a good reminder that we can’t let our kids get too far ahead of us to a point that they are in danger.” Natalie Tysdal, KDVR/KWGN-Television Channel 2
“I enjoyed Michelle Cimino’s ‘been-there-seen-that’ book so much that I invited her to share her new-age social-survival insights on my radio show and my cable TV show! In addition to peppering her ‘sound advice’ with OMG-quality real-life anecdotes, she offers a stump-the-experts Texting Quick Reference Acronym list that will keep most text’ers busy tapping for hours. Bravo, Michelle! Bonnie D. Graham,Producer/host “Up Close & Personal” [www.BlogTalkRadio.com/BonnieDGraham] and “Something To Talk About” [www.BonnieTV.com]

You have a nice readable and net site.
I agree to the etiquette you mention above. That’s a Mom to their kids must has rules to make to guide them what’s right. And practicing what’s right can lead to a child’s habit.Which is very helpful for the kids manner in or out in the house.Even when they grow old they will never depart on what they are trained to be.Its Happened in me.
Desaville´s last [type] ..Hello world!
