The Three Most Common Symptoms of Pregnancy

Posted By: Suzy on December 8, 2010 at 8:54 pm

Pregnancy has many different symptoms and signs, and each woman experiences them in varying degrees of intensity. No two pregnancies are exactly alike, so it is impossible to say which pregnancy symptoms you will experience first or with the most force.

However, there are some signs of pregnancy which occur earlier and with greater regularity in a larger number of women. If you are trying to become pregnant or if you think you may be pregnant, these three pregnancy symptoms are where you should start looking:

  • Missed period – For many women, other signs of pregnancy do not become apparent until they have missed their period. While you should allow for a few days of leeway if your period is delayed, if it hasn’t shown up a week after it was due, there is a chance it may be due to pregnancy. Also, keep in mind that many pregnant women don’t outright miss their first period after conception; rather, their next period can be unusually light and asymptomatic.
  • Morning sickness – There’s a good reason that morning sickness has become almost a cliché when talking about signs and symptoms of pregnancy. It is something the vast majority of pregnant women experience, and can occur even before you miss your first period. You should also be aware that “morning sickness” isn’t necessarily limited to the morning. Officially, nausea is a pregnancy symptom, and it can occur at any time of day (though most women experience it shortly after waking up).
  • Breast tenderness – When you conceive a child, your breasts will become swollen, achy and tender to the touch. You are most likely to notice this symptom at night, when you are tossing and turning trying to get in a comfortable sleeping position, when you’re showering, dressing or exercising, or when you or a partner touches your breasts. However, breast tenderness as a pregnancy symptom is always accompanied by other symptoms, so don’t assume you’re pregnant if it is the only thing you are experiencing.

Other common pregnancy symptoms include an increase in the frequency and urgency of urination, fatigue, dizziness, sudden and dramatic mood swings and changes, and unusual or strong cravings for particular foods.

Featured Mom: Dr. Selina Chew, Ph.D – Certified Hypnotherapist

Posted By: vie on April 11, 2010 at 6:48 pm

I decided to feature Dr. Selina Chew, Ph.D because she is a gifted  career mom of 2 young boys. She has developed a deep interest in mind-body therapies since she was young. She choose her career path as a certified hypnotherapist  because of her love for mind-body therapies.  When I asked her the reason she chose her career as a hypnotherapist.  She said,  “Well, I don’t think of it as a job. It’s more like a passion – a very fulfilling one, that is.”

Preggy Mom and Baby Personality

Posted By: vie on August 27, 2009 at 11:28 pm

To all preggy moms, I would advise you to keep yourself in a good mood and in a positive mind during pregnancy.  Believe it or not, your mood and mind will affect your baby personality. A happy pregnant mom will give birth to a happy baby. Here are relaxation tips for pregnant moms:

  • Go holiday or go for a Babymoon to indulge yourself in a happy mood. Babymoon by definition is a romantic getaway during your pregnancy.
  • Do some light exercises such as Prenatal Yoga which boost your body and mind. There are different techniques in Prenatal Yoga, from 5 to 38 minutes. Prenatal Yoga doesn’t only bring energy, balance and wellbeing for pregnant moms and their baby but also prepare your body for labor with ease and relax your mind.

I have 2 kids and my younger kid is more active and happier child than her sister. It is true that I was a happy, care free, active and traveling mom during my 2nd pregnancy.  Baby shows his personality since the day he is born.  My Gift:  free giveaway Baby Personality under Zodiac e-book.

Natural Preconception Guide for a Healthy and Better Baby

Posted By: vie on August 26, 2009 at 8:53 am

Healthy baby is a dream for parents-to-be. It is important for a couple or parents-to-be to prepare their body to be healthy before conception. Back to 9 years ago, I looked for an answer why I couldn’t conceive after one year of marriage. I found  “Healthy Parents, Better Babies”, a couple’s guide to natural preconception health care book. The book helped me to understand the nutrition, health supplements, herbal remedies, natural therapies, infertility and problems in health reproduction. I and my husband followed some of the advice, taking herbal remedies for improvement in our health reproduction and detoxifying our body before conception. To our surprise, I conceived within few months and gave birth to a healthy baby. The Gynae didn’t believe that a petite lady like me could give birth to a healthy baby of 3.26 kg. It is advisable that you should distance the next conception 2 or 3 years after delivery of your baby so that your body can rebuild enough nutrition for another fetus. 3 years later, I gave birth to another baby 3.35 kg.

For a couple or parents-to-be who wish to have a healthy and better baby or look for an answer to infertility problem, I recommend you to read  “ Healthy Parents, Better Babies”, a couple’s guide to natural preconception health care. This book is a guide and resources for parents-to-be for natural conception. Though, I don’t plan for having more babies, this book is still good health resources for moms like me to understand the health care and nutrition for women and women problems like PMS, breast lumps etc.

Please take a look at Natural Preconception books authored by Francesca Naish, naturopath and herbalish from Australia clinic and Janette Roberts, pharmacist and  nutritionist who is famous for her work in promoting preconception healthcare.
