Healthy Hair and Skin Tips for Moms

August 11, 2009 | Leave a Comment

Every woman has her own beauty secret and I’m sharing my beauty tips for moms.  I would advise moms to care their skin and hair for a healthy and young look. Once I watched Oprah’s show about the beauty topic. She asked the beauty expert: What is actually the secret of your young-looking skin?  She replied:  Moisturizer, don’t forget to moisturize your skin all the time. Of course, this advice may not apply to women with oily skin type.

Healthy Skin Tips for Moms

I have a normal skin type. I need to moisturize my face day and night to prevent dryness. I apply different moisturizer, for daytime and nighttime. Daytime moisturizer normally contains SPF18 to protect our skin from the sun. Look for moisturizer with natural or herbal ingredients if you can. I find moisturizer with whitening effect can cause skin allergy to some people. I also moisturize the skin around my eyes,  neck,  hands and feet. My kids apply lotion to moisturize their hands and feet. Occasionally, I apply face mask. They’re different kinds of face masks to serve different purpose. If you like to use natural plant, Lemon is one of a kind.  Lemon can bring benefits for skin such as cleanse and exfoliate your skin, lighten age spots, soften dry elbows, and relieve rough hands and sore feet.

Healthy Hair Tips for Moms

I had signs of greyish hair at the age of late twenties. I stopped perming my hair and dying my hair was not a solution.  So, I looked for a solution to prevent greyish hair. As the skin needs moisturizer, so does the hair.  If you’re under the sun, protect your hair by wearing a hat. Finally, I find ayurveda (alternative or herbal medicine practiced in India) herbal hair oil to moisturize my hair to keep them healthy. You will not get a sticky hair look because the hair oil is applied one hour or more before you wash your hair. I notice that greyish hair will not appear if my hair is healthy.

Nutrition for Healthy Skin

There are certain food and nutrition to keep your skin healthy. I’m particularly drinking green tea or apple cider vinegar mixed with honey. I’m also taking Evening Primrose Oil (EPO). EPO benefits women with PMS syndrome.

Yoga for Beautiful Skin

Yoga is a kind of physical and mental practice, originated in India. Yoga benefits health and mind and some practice it for therapy and cures of certain illness. I found an interesting article about Yoga for Beautiful skin, posted by Swati S, wellsphere.com

Want to take a shot at treating wrinkled skin, under eye circles and getting a glowing, beautiful skin the natural way? Yoga is known as a good way to get a healthy body. But yoga can also be used to work your way towards a more beautiful you. This simple, easy-to-do “asana” shows you how. Stand straight and move your feet apart, almost the same distance as your shoulders. Now cover your face with your palms and breathe, deep and fast. Do this 10 times. Next, hold up the two fingers nearest to the thumb. Take these two fingers of each hand and make small circles on entire your face, your eyes and your forehead. Continue to breathe deep and fast. Do this exercise for 5-10 minutes, start from the chin and slowly move to the forehead. Keep on taking deep breaths. Do this regularly to get a glowing, healthy skin.
