Our body has a natural cleansing system through liver and kidney but the level of toxins in our body can be overloaded and need external help such as detoxification. Detoxification means cleansing or removing toxins. If we never detox our body, we put our kidney and liver in danger.  For parents to be, it is important to detox your body prior to conception in order to have a healthy baby.

Chemicals are the source of toxins

Air pollution is not the main source of toxins. The processed food and drink, synthetic multi vitamins, personal care products such as  bath/skin/hair  and the household cleaning products contain chemicals that may jeopardize our health.  Even stress can build up toxins. People have turned to organic food, natural health supplements and eco friendly  household cleaning products for safety. It’s advisable to wash fruits and vegetables with eco friendly fruits and vegetables pure wash that contains no chemical. This pure wash can remove the pesticides, waxes and kill germs. Antiseptics Could Save Your Family from Bad Sore Throat

Posted By: vie on April 1, 2010 at 10:22 pm

If you have early signs of sore throat and you ignore it, it can get worse. You finally have to take antibiotics for the treatment. Antibitotics destroy good and bad bacterias in our body. We need good bacterias for our immune system. Although taking antibiotics heals bad sore throat, our body becomes weaker and we will catch another illness easily. After a course of antibiotics, you shall take prebiotics and probiotics.  Prebiotics are non-digestible food ingredients that stimulate the growth of good bacterias in the digestive system. You can find prebiotics  added in cereals.  Probiotics are commonly consumed as part of fermented foods with specially added active live cultures; such as in yogurt or dietary supplements. Probiotics are to improve microbial balance in the intestine.

First Aid and Safety for Kids

Posted By: vie on March 29, 2010 at 7:15 pm

Accident does happen, at home or outdoor. Parents should stay alert and react quickly when the accident happens, especially to young kids. I would recommend First Aid and Safety for Kids. I hope this link will not be removed as it has various topics and handy advices that parents  can learn.  I would also suggest that parents keep first aid box in the car, at home and have some first aid kit in your hand bag as well. I usually carry Natural Antiseptic Oil that works on wound, burns and insect bites and some plasters in my hand bag. So far, I had experienced 3 accidents at home and I had bad experience with the bleeding.

Green Living Tips: The Secrets of Nature Wonders for Skin Nourishment

Posted By: vie on March 8, 2010 at 11:59 am

Being a home based working moms enable us to work from home and we no longer pay attention to our look. Work, stress, pollution and toxins from the environment can take away the beauty of our skin. The green living tips today is about what nature wonders can do to nourish skin.  The degradation of collagen in our skin leads to aging and wrinkles. To simplify, collage is the main protein of fibrous tissue mainly found in skin. Collagen is responsible for the strength and elasticity of the skin.  As we are getting older, the ability of our body to create collagen deteriorates, causing dry and wrinkles in our skin. We need to rejuvenate our skin. Let’s take a look at the secrets of nature wonders from plants for skin nourishment:

Healthy Hair and Skin Tips for Moms

Posted By: vie on August 11, 2009 at 7:13 am

Every woman has her own beauty secret and I’m sharing my beauty tips for moms.  I would advise moms to care their skin and hair for a healthy and young look. Once I watched Oprah’s show about the beauty topic. She asked the beauty expert: What is actually the secret of your young-looking skin?  She replied:  Moisturizer, don’t forget to moisturize your skin all the time. Of course, this advice may not apply to women with oily skin type.

Healthy Skin Tips for Moms

I have a normal skin type. I need to moisturize my face day and night to prevent dryness. I apply different moisturizer, for daytime and nighttime. Daytime moisturizer normally contains SPF18 to protect our skin from the sun. Look for moisturizer with natural or herbal ingredients if you can. I find moisturizer with whitening effect can cause skin allergy to some people. I also moisturize the skin around my eyes,  neck,  hands and feet. My kids apply lotion to moisturize their hands and feet. Occasionally, I apply face mask. They’re different kinds of face masks to serve different purpose. If you like to use natural plant, Lemon is one of a kind.  Lemon can bring benefits for skin such as cleanse and exfoliate your skin, lighten age spots, soften dry elbows, and relieve rough hands and sore feet.

Healthy Hair Tips for Moms

I had signs of greyish hair at the age of late twenties. I stopped perming my hair and dying my hair was not a solution.  So, I looked for a solution to prevent greyish hair. As the skin needs moisturizer, so does the hair.  If you’re under the sun, protect your hair by wearing a hat. Finally, I find ayurveda (alternative or herbal medicine practiced in India) herbal hair oil to moisturize my hair to keep them healthy. You will not get a sticky hair look because the hair oil is applied one hour or more before you wash your hair. I notice that greyish hair will not appear if my hair is healthy.

Nutrition for Healthy Skin

There are certain food and nutrition to keep your skin healthy. I’m particularly drinking green tea or apple cider vinegar mixed with honey. I’m also taking Evening Primrose Oil (EPO). EPO benefits women with PMS syndrome.

Yoga for Beautiful Skin

Yoga is a kind of physical and mental practice, originated in India. Yoga benefits health and mind and some practice it for therapy and cures of certain illness. I found an interesting article about Yoga for Beautiful skin, posted by Swati S, wellsphere.com

Want to take a shot at treating wrinkled skin, under eye circles and getting a glowing, beautiful skin the natural way? Yoga is known as a good way to get a healthy body. But yoga can also be used to work your way towards a more beautiful you. This simple, easy-to-do “asana” shows you how. Stand straight and move your feet apart, almost the same distance as your shoulders. Now cover your face with your palms and breathe, deep and fast. Do this 10 times. Next, hold up the two fingers nearest to the thumb. Take these two fingers of each hand and make small circles on entire your face, your eyes and your forehead. Continue to breathe deep and fast. Do this exercise for 5-10 minutes, start from the chin and slowly move to the forehead. Keep on taking deep breaths. Do this regularly to get a glowing, healthy skin.

I would like to share an interesting e-book about earth beauty resources for moms (free e-books download): Be an Earth Beauty, 12 pages Simply Beautiful-A Natural Mom’s No Fluff, Non-Toxic Get Gorgeous Guide. If you are interested in beauty and health resources for moms, you can get them from one stop resources like Mom’s Talk News.
