Help Toddler To Talk

Posted By: Viviana on July 13, 2009 at 8:28 am

Once your toddler starts speaking few words, encourage her to talk. Here are some ideas to help your child to talk.

  • Engage your child in two ways simple conversation, talk to her and expect an answer/response from your child.
  • Sing lots of silly songs. Songs with movements are favourites at this age.
  • Read everyday.Repetition of her favorite story books and nursery rhymes can give her an even better understanding of the common patterns of spoken language.

Language skills are becoming quite strong during this stage and her vocabulary of understood words is growing rapidly. Would you like to know more ? Watch this video: http://www.gurgle.com/videos/22708/Toddler_Talking_How_to_help_.aspx

Car Games

Posted By: Viviana on July 10, 2009 at 10:18 am

Travelling by car in a long distance may be boring for kids.  How about play the games ?  Kids love to play the games especially if mom and dad are involved too.  Our favourites car games for young kids are:

  • I SPY. One person gives the clues and the others guess the objects. The objects are things around us that we can see or spy.  For example: if we pass by Mc Donald restaurant in a car, you can say: I spy a big letter M. The other will have to guess.
  • SIMON SAYS. One person acts as SIMON does the action and the others have to follow Simon’s action .  For example:  You as Simon says: put your right hands on the top of your head and you do the action. The others will follow your action.
  • SPELLING.  If we play spelling as a game, kids will not feel the pressure.
  • ALPHABETS AND OBJECTS.  For example: find the objects that start with letter A.  We say all objects that start with letter A till we can’t find anymore objects. Then we can do with another letter.
  • GUESS GAMES. One person says the clues and the others have to guess the objects.   My kids could make good clues: what animal has a pocket ? what fruit that produce milk ? and  I added the fun: what vegetable has golden teeth and brown hair?
